There are times when our skin needs extra support and for the past 50+ years we've been here to help and support. In this blog we're focusing on solutions for dry, dehydrated, itchy, irritable and sensitive skin.

Hydration

Dehydration is a lack of water in the skin, dryness is a lack of oil, often the conditions exacerbate the other. If you're reaching for cups of tea and coffee, which are diuretics, and not always remembering your 6-8 glasses of water daily, try these instead to aid hydration:

Herbal Teas
Coconut water
Warm water and lemon juice
Water with a splash of apple juice

For every cup of tea or coffee you need to replace with a glass of water.

Nutrition

For skin care from the inside, eat healthy fats and oils such as avocado, nuts, olive oil, omegas found in salmon, flaxseed and walnuts, colourful fruit and veges for anti-oxidants.

Cleanse

Cleanse with only the most gentle and effective products that respect the pH and hydrolipid layer of your skin. Cleansing Cream in the morning, Soothing Cleansing Milk in the evening and for body care use our caring Shower Cream.

Apply

Nourishing, deeply moisturising and protective Rose Day Cream which contains calming St. John's wort (Hypericum) to help strengthen a sensitive skin or for a lighter formulation and more of a matte finish then choose Rose Day Cream Light. A dry/dehydrated, pallid skin benefits from Revitalising Day Lotion, which although light in texture, is our most active day care to support sebaceous activity. How about adding warm tones, helping to even skin tone, disguise redness and moisturise with rich Tinted Day Cream or for a lighter option mix a little Translucent Bronzing Tint with any moisturiser. Quince Day Cream is also recommended for some sensitive conditions, because quince is a cooling ingredient, it’s ideal for those who carry heat in their skin.

Your bathroom is your apothecary, you can always blend products to suit your skin's needs.

Soothe & Nourish

Extra care that really makes such a big difference to your skin. Choose Soothing Mask once a week and Hydrating Mask once a week as your response to irritation, sensitivity, dehydration and dryness.

If your skin is 'parched' dry and/or dehydrating then use Hydrating Mask as your day cream until condition has improved or if your skin is hypersensitive use Soothing Mask as a day cream until condition has improved also. Alternatively, for a boost, add a little of either into your usual day cream for a month.

Night time

The use of a night cream causes dependancy and in our experience exacerbates a dry skin. We support your skin's regenerating and eliminating activity by allowing your skin to function without night time processes being impeded by heavy creams. Use Night Serum or Regenerating Serum for active botanicals in an aqueous solution to wake up to refreshed and revitalised skin.

Hypersensitive Help

Additional support comes from Soothing Intensive Treatment. Use as a one month treatment in a bottle, mist on skin instead of Toner morning and evening to calm and fortify irritated, reactive skin, minimising the appearance of stress related blemishes and fortifying your skin’s natural resilience.

Sensitive Care

Sensitive Care Conditioner is specially formulated to care for sensitive, red or irritated skin, and skin prone to couperose. Use one ampoule morning and evening instead of Toner for one month, a skin cell cycle.
